National Park De Alde Feanen
The Alde Faenen Nature Park, which means "Old Fens" in English, is the largest contiguous water area in Friesland. It is known for its vast marshlands, winding waterways, and diverse bird species, including majestic ones like the sea eagle.
Above the flat landscape, windmills, bird observation huts, and bridges stand tall, emphasizing the charm of the area. The best way to explore the park is from the water, allowing the birds to nest undisturbed in the designated breeding areas.
Located on the edge of the Alde Feanen, almost entirely surrounded by water, is our Canoe Trip basecamp (De Veenhoop). Here, after an active day on the water, you can enjoy a warm shower and a cozy evening with your travel companions.
